Why has my data import failed?
6 min
a data import in breww may fail if there are errors in the import file if this happens go to settings > data imports & updates , and you will find the failed import under recent data imports if the import has failed, you will usually see an error message explaining why if no error message is displayed, check to see if there are 'invalid' rows in the recent data imports section; it will display the rows as 'valid' or 'invalid' here if the rows are valid, but this is still failing without a given reason, please contact the support team by raising a support ticket and attaching the original import file our team will then investigate and help resolve the issue failing imports where rows are valid once you have submitted your data import, the fields may be 'valid', however, if there is an error in the data in the file, a notification will appear on screen indicating that the import has failed this notification will provide an overview of the error, helping you identify what needs to be corrected if you scroll further down, youβll see a message explaining the reason for the failure, and youβll also be able to download the file in the example shown, the rows are marked as βvalidβ , meaning that all required fields have been filled in however, the issue here is that the same batch number has been used against different beers batch numbers must be unique identifiers that trace back to a specific batch of beer that has been brewed, so it isnβt possible for different beers to share the same batch number this example would be resolved by ensuring the batch number isn't associated with two different beers once corrected, you can reattempt the upload invalid rows rows may display as 'invalid' if there are mistakes in your import file where invalid data has been entered or data has been missed for example, when importing drink batches in vessel , a row could be marked as invalid if the batch number is missing, or the required fields have not been used for instance, if the drink floral haze ipa is listed in breww but your import file includes it as fh ipa , breww will not recognise the drink, and the row will be invalid, and this will fail successful import with invalid rows if you complete an import and the import file has both valid and invalid rows, it will still display as a successful completion for this reason, we recommend always reviewing the recent data imports section to check for any rows that may be invalid this will indicate that your import contains both valid and invalid rows checking which rows were invalid by selecting the button highlighted below on the recent data imports section, you can download the invalid rows , amend them, and re import the corrected data
